Guest Post: Obama is the Captain of the Titanic- And the Ship's Going Down

Obama is looking more and more the captain of the Titanic. The Captain meant well, but in the end he was taking orders from the men who put him in power. In Obama's case, some of the people that put him in power are no longer the same "Sheeple" that elected him.  Recent polls show he is losing his base.  His black and independent voters are moving away...one could argue, they are deserting a sinking ship.

I am one of  many American Citizens who have awakened from a deep sleep. I see I am not alone.
WE HAVE BECOME THE MAJORITY OF OUR COUNTRYMEN, and we recognize now that we do not share this President's ideology.

I can respect a President for holding true to his vision.  I respect the Captain of The Titanic, even though EVERYTHING he knew was wrong. I don't hate Obama. I've just seen his script before and I know the story ends badly.

From the moment Titanic hit the Iceberg to the moment it went under, NOTHING anyone said or did could stop it from sinking. People denied the ship was sinking even as the water rose past their ankles. "Normalcy bias" made a tragic situation worse, as many of those souls first had to process the reality that their "unsinkable" ship was actually sinking.

Many of us are experiencing a similar, abrupt thrust into our current reality.

Man's hubris was so great that only half of the lifeboats needed to ensure everyone's safety were designed into the Titanic. Unknowingly, the metal alloy used in the doomed ship actually contributed to the breaching of her hull.

I could go on, but, we all know the shortsightedness of Man has been marked by history many times...

Friends, Unlike the men and women on The Titanic, we still have the time and the knowledge to make the correct decisions. We can demonstrate that we have learned from our past history, and we can choose to right our ship.

We are in trouble.

If we don't increase our Debt Ceiling at all, the likelihood of us going into default is nearly certain. Worse still, if we do EVERYTHING Obama wants so badly, our credit rating will STILL be lowered and our currency further devalued..

We are sinking.

If we know we are sinking, and we know what needs to be done to preserve our freedom, why are we not doing it?
Why are the people (who we elected to speak for us) not speaking for us?
I feel like "We" The people" are being treated as an inconvenience to these men and women who hold OUR power.

Samuel Adams said,
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom -- go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!"

People need to start talking like this again!
I actually agree with Nancy Pelosi when she says, "We are trying to save life on this planet as we know it today." She says it to terrify you and keep your chains light upon you. I speak the same words, only mine come with sound financial knowledge and a love for liberty behind them.  I am not for sale. I am for the animated contest of Freedom.  We have elected some like-minded Representatives already. WE are the only reason the debt ceiling talks are still underway. 

Chris Christie, the Governor of New Jersey, and a personal hero of mine, was brought to the hospital for having difficulty breathing. I find this a sane reaction to the insane times we are in-
IF you know what is happening and
IF you love your country.
I believe Governor Christie fits both categories. Who among us has not had a visceral reaction to the massive mess we are in? The debt we allowed our Representatives to put us in is almost incomprehensible to a sane mind.

I know there is blame in both Political parties. I am not on the left or right anymore.
Today, I choose sanity and a spirit of service to my country. We must not let our Representatives bury their heads in dollar bills printed from thin air. We must watch and participate in our Government. We must choose to stand firm,  facing unflinchingly forward.

There are rough times ahead no matter what we decide.
I choose to face the suffering NOW, from the position of choice. There is POWER in making a conscious choice. We can get through this in "doable doses" of austerity,  rather than becoming a victim of a WORSE catastrophe that is, inevitably, the end of the current course we are on.

Even The Emancipation Proclamation has been brought into the debt ceiling discussion.  Ridiculous!
I will let President Lincoln speak for himself here:

"Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration, will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance, or insignificance, can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation. The way is plain, peaceful, generous, just -- a way which, if followed, the world will forever applaud, and God must forever bless."

I believe I know what President Lincoln would do today.

I think you do too.

Obama can golf as The United States of America sinks in debt, but I will continue the fight to share the truth as I see it.

2012 is coming. The decisions made in the next few days, the decisions made on OUR behalf, had better reflect OUR voice. Because if  2010, was a "shellacking," 2012 may prove to be an iceberg hiding in a calm sea.
